Bacteria are ubiquitous in the environment around us all. They are essential to many metabolic pathways in both plants and animals. It has been recently discovered that they can be used in conjunction with plants to break down organic contaminants in the environment. This utilization of phytomremediation and bioremediation may be very important in the breakdown of the organic pollutants released by agriculture and industry.
